William A. Wenzel, 1907-2003, St. Clair Shores, Mich.
William Alfred Wenzel, 96, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., formerly of Saline
County, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Grosse Pointe, Mich.
He was born July 29, 1907, in rural Slater, a son of Charles J. and Laura
Venable Wenzel. He married Virginia Mais, who preceded him in death. He then
married Iraida Ilinazi, who survives of the home.
Mr. Wenzel was a graduate of Marshall High School and a graduate of Missouri
Valley College. He was an inspector for Industrial Magnet Co. in Detroit until
he retired in 1974. He served with the Navy in the South Pacific for three
years during World War II. He was a member of Grosse Point United Church.
Also surviving are a brother, Ralph Wenzel, of Marshall; a sister, Nellie
Opfer, of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, C.J. Wenzel, Kenneth Wenzel
and Roger Wenzel; and one sister in infancy, Pauline Wenzel.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Sacred Gardens
Cemetery in Sedalia, with William W. Harlow officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Family Choice in care of
Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
